Peeling process : CALIBRACIER's cutting tool removes the superficial layer and surface defects while calibrating the piece to obtain the requested diameter. On cylindrical steel bars, each peeling step allows to remove one to several millimeters. This peeling process is followed by a straightening step.

CALIBRACIER's roller straightening machines and presses allow to straighten the bars to ensure the required straightness. This is a fundamental step before any grinding process.

After the preliminary steps of peeling and straightening processes, centerless grinding guarantees high-precision geometric parameters: a very strict tolerance on diameter, an improved surface quality (roundness, roughness: up to 0.30µm Ra...).
Cylindrical centerless grinding is a cold process in which the bar passes through the machine and between two grinding wheels. During the centerless grinding process, the metal removal rate is very gradual and allows CALIBRACIER to work on very round and long bars (up to 13 meters).
